All About rezlife

WHAT IS REZLIFE:

Our Mission - To build a Christian community where non-religious and nominally religious students and their families are becoming deeply committed Christians

Our Vision- Change lives, Transforming Communities, and Renewing the Church

Our Journey- Knowing God, Loving God, Serving God

We design our ongoing gatherings, specific ministries, and events throughout the year to accomplish this mission, vision, and faith journey. It is our hope to equip your student and family to continue becoming a deeply committed Christian.

We believe that the greatest area for discipleship growth is found in what we call group life. Group life is small groups, beginning with Confirmation, then onto a covenant group experience found in Sunday School, school year small groups, one of the music groups (band, choir, orchestra, or bells), ministry teams, (tech, prayer, serve, drama), or exploring MAC (ministry as a career) Track.

We want to come beside your family on this faith journey together here at Church of the Resurrection, supporting, guiding, and challenging you to commit to worship together as a family and growing as a disciple in Group Life!

WHAT DOES REZLIFE OFFER?

Sunday School: 9:00am-10:15am

Each Sunday morning begins with hang-time and drinks and donuts for sale in the cafe. We gather for a time of praise and worship, followed by a short teaching message and announcements. Students then head to classrooms for group life time. During group life time, students are split up by grade and gender from 6th grade to 12th grade.

Wednesday Night Middle School Youth Group:

6th through 8th grade: 6:15pm- 8:00pm

Come on out for rezlife's weekly gathering of high energy, high impact student-led praise and worship, creative messages relevant to students, a concession café, hang time with friends, and the multiple entertainment options in the student center like video games, the boulder wall and basketball. In addition to being a place where students learn each week what it means to follow Jesus, in both a large group and small group time.

Sunday Night High School Rez:

9th through 12th grade: 5:00pm - 6:15pm

Come hang out with other high school students for a time of fun and faith.  Throughout the school year students will be offered messages from our high school minister as well as other members of the rezlife staff, worship music, small group time and even moments to serve the community.  Youth group with a twist!

Group Life (Small Groups):

6th, 7th, 8th Grades: Included as part of Wednesday Night Youth Group!

High School: various times, days and places

Ready to take the next step in growing your faith? Small groups are a great way to get to know and connect with a smaller group of students, to connect with trained rezlife volunteer small group leaders and to be involved in Bible study and topical discussions relative to everyday life and issues. Many small groups also participate in occasional social outings and service opportunities.

Groups do not require registration. Check with Jeff Milton if you need help getting connected with a small group.

MAC Track (Ministry as a Career):

Meets the first Sunday of each Month.

Ministry as a Career Track, or MAC Track, is a program designed to provide avenues for students who have expressed an interest or possible calling to explore vocational ministry, ordained and lay ministry, as a career option.  MAC Track is committed to providing support, encouragement, resources and options to these students as they explore their calling. We are committed to excellence in offering students a realistic view of ministry, developing leadership through experiential learning, and providing an authentic Christian community where students with similar goals are whole-heartedly seeking to discern God's direction for their lives.

Thursday Morning High School Bible Study (During the School Year):

7:45am-8:30am

We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Starting your day by digging into God's word is just as important! Come and hang out with Dave MaGee, Director of Student ministries, bright and early on Thursdays for Breakfast and Bible study! Bring your Bible and your friends!

Confirmation:

Registration for 2016/2017 Confirmation will open in late Spring 2016.
Are you an 8th-12th grade student ready to grow deeper in your faith?  We would love to have you join us on the Confirmation Journey!

Confirmation is the time when a personal decision is made to confirm the vows of our baptism. At The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, this happens as a group of students in grades 8th-12th join together for a semester of exploring who Christ is, what it means to know Him through a life-long relationship, and how we follow Him as United Methodists.  Small groups are gender and grade specific.  The Confirmation Ceremony is their first public affirmation of the faith of the church as being their own faith.  The Confirmand is taking responsibility for living as a member of the body of Christ and for fulfilling God's purposes. Our first prayer is that each student involved will commit to a real and personal faith.  Our second prayer is that they will begin to cherish the rich heritage we have as United Methodists.  This includes the building of relationships with peers and adults who will support them in their faith.  We strongly believe this is done through small group relationships long after the ten weeks of Confirmation are over.

Confirmation is not simply a “rite of passage.”  Nor, just a class to complete. It is a step in a life-long journey of pursuing the heights depths and widths of God’s love and making a vow to live in relationship with Him for the rest of our life!

Here are a couple of things confirmands have said about their Confirmation experience:  "I could speak my mind"   "I learned more than I ever thought I would"  "They explained more than I ever thought they would"  "I now ask myself more, What would Jesus want me to do?"

There is a fee however scholarships are available if needed.
