New Day Prison Ministry

The purpose of Resurrection's New Day Prison ministry is to restore hope for those currently incarcerated and recently released offenders and their families through personal visits, Bible study, mentoring relationships and acts of service. 

Members from Resurrection have been doing ministry in the prisons through Alpha and Mentoring for more than six years.  This ministry provides an amazing opportunity to share the love of God with those who are lost or seeking, as Christ called us to do.

Serve the prison ministry by praying for inmates and their families, on your own or through intercessory prayers teams for Alpha participants, inmates' special requests, and in general for those in and administering the correctional system.

Lead Alpha in Prison

What:  Teach the 14 week prison Alpha course using prepared curriculum in teams with others.  The Alpha course is an opportunity for inmates to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed, non-threatening manner in thought-provoking weekly sessions.

Who:  Men and women, 18 and older

Where: Offered at Lansing Correctional Facility and U.S. Penitentiary in Leavenworth

Mentor Inmates in Prisons

What:  Mentor inmates in prison or recently released inmates, one-on-one and help these individuals achieve wholeness through the love of Jesus.  You will help them recreate their lives so they can be successful and of service to others.

Who:  Men, 18 and older

Where: Offered at Lansing Correctional Facility, U.S. Penitentiary in Leavenworth and through Wyandotte County Re-Entry Program for released inmates.

Brothers in Blue Retreat

What:  Participate in a three-day spiritual weekend at the Lansing Correctional Facility.  The Brothers-in-Blue experience is a spiritual retreat centered around the meaning of Christianity; comprised of fifteen talks by lay and clergy on the themes of God's grace, obedience of Christian discipleship, and what it means to be a devoted Christian. The weekend is wrapped in prayer and meditation, special times of worship and daily celebration of Holy Communion. The Brothers-in-Blue volunteers support the weekend experience through prayer, leading group discussions, giving talks and demonstrating acts of love and self-giving with the inmate participants.  

Who:  Men, 18 and older

When:  Three weekends a year, Friday noon through Sunday afternoon

Where: Offered at Lansing Correctional Facility
